ADDITIONAL SERVICES

{Tipping is usually part of the culture and in most cases leaving a tip is good etiquette as well showing your appreciation for the good services you would be received, unless of course the service was really terrible, don't feel obliged to give a tip just because it is "customary". Most of the industries that involved in providing services, such as restaurants, pay wages as they expect the employee will receive tips. Therefore, it is quite nice of you to give tip when you get an amazing service}.

{This TOUR is based on fully guided option. The "Fully Guided Option" would give you a private English- speaking tour guide for all touring days. The "Local Guide Option" would provide you with an English- speaking driver, who would arrange your entry fees and also arrange the local English- speaking guides wherever there're available -- in this case that would include local guide in Jerash, Bethany & Beyond, and in Petra. Local guides are only available to hire in Jerash, Bethany & Beyond, and Petra only. Other sites are subject to availability.

If you want to choose the LOCAL GUIDED OPTION to make the trip less expensive than these offered prices, please contact our Travel Experts for a revised quote}.

Day 1

Arrival

Welcome to Jordan and start your amazing Holiday! Upon arrival at Queen Alia Airport, you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel in Amman.

Overnight: Amman | Meals: None.

Day 2

Citadel in Amman, Jerash & Ajloun Forest Reserve

After breakfast, enjoy a morning city tour in Amman; include a visit to the Citadel on Jebel al Qala'a, to get a wonderful view of the city, Omayyad Palace and Jordan’s National Archeological Museum. Then, drive north to visit Jerash, the world’s best-preserved Roman provincial city. At its heart is a dramatic colonnaded public space from where cobbled, arcaded streets rutted with the tracks of Roman cartwheels lead past shop fronts and bathhouses to an impressive theatre. At the edge of Jerash is the Temple of Artemis with its exquisitely carved Corinthian capitol.

In nearby, drive to Ajloun to tour the crusader era Saracen Castle built by the armies of Salah ad din. An important strategic fortress, helping to control the area between Damascus and Cairo, and one of the few castles built to defend against the Crusaders. Ajloun is remarkably well preserved and a prime example of Islamic military architecture of the 12th and 13th centuries.

The castle occupies a commanding position on Jebel Auf with views over the countryside. In its heyday it had seven towers and was enclosed by a dry moat 15 meters deep. Inside it is a maze of interlinking rooms and tunnels. Although the castle was destroyed on several occasions by attacking forces and earthquakes, it was rebuilt each time and restoration work is ongoing. Dinner and overnight at Ajloun Cabins in Ajloun Forest Reserve.

Overnight: Ajloun | Meals: Breakfast & Dinner.

Day 3

Um Al-Jimmal, Shaumari Wildlife Reserve & Azraq Castle

Drive to Umm al-Jimmal, which also called "Black Gem of the desert". It was once an important caravan way station on the margins of the Decapolis. Rural and well to do, it was a fitting contrast to the surrounding busy cities. Its mansions and towers, some still standing to three stories high, are architectural wonder. The remains of some 14 Byzantine churches have been discovered here.

Continue to Shaumari Wildlife Reserve, created as a breeding center for endangered or locally extinct wildlife, the Shaumari Wildlife Reserve is home to some of the rarest species of animals in the Middle East. In this small 22 Km square reserve, you can enjoy a jeep safari to see the Arabian Oryx roaming freely in the desert grassland. Ostriches and Gazelles can also be observed in their enclosures. Shaumari’s breeding enclosures provide a small "zoo" for visitors, making the reserve a popular spot for children and school outings. These animals are rebuilding their populations in this safe haven, protected from the hunting and habitat destruction that nearly wiped them out.

Take a short drive onward to Azraq to tour its Roman Castle, which is solidly constructed out of black basalt. As result of its strategic location close to the borders of several countries and near to water supply, the site has been occupied by many different civilizations including the Umayyad, Ayyubids and Ottomans. T.E. Lawrence, better known as Lawrence of Arabia, used the Castle as his military base in the winter during the Arab Revolt of the early 20th Century against the Turks. Dinner and overnight at Azraq Eco-lodge.

Overnight: Azraq | Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.

Day 4

Desert Castles, Mt. Nebo & Madaba

Visit the "Desert Castles" (8th Century Omayyad hunting lodges) which are stunning examples of the early Islamic art and Architecture. Qasr Amra is one of the best-preserved monuments, and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The walls inside and ceilings are covered with fine fresco, and rooms are paved with colorful mosaics. In the way to Madaba, visit Qasr Kharanah.

We go onward to Mt. Nebo, from which Moses has the first glimpse at the Promised Land – a Panoramic view of the Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, Jericho and the hills of Judea (if it's clear) the distant spires and domes of the Mount of Olives, and visit the contemporary church with its display of mosaics from the succession of pilgrimage churches on this venerated spot.

Finally, we arrive to Madaba “the city of Mosaics' and home to the world’s largest collection of ancient mosaics. The Main attraction in Madaba is the Madaba Map in St George's Church, which represents the oldest map of Palestine and the Holy Land in existence and provides many historical insights to the region in the 6th Century. Explore further of Madaba to visit the Archaeological Park with its Byzantine and Herodian mosaics, Apostles Church and Madaba Museum.

Overnight: Madaba | Meals: Breakfast.

Day 5

King's Way, Wadi Mujib & Karak Crusader Castle

After breakfast, follow the Kings Highway, the north–south trade road through the old Kingdoms of Edom and Moab and the route the Nabateans used to transport all their luxury goods from Petra north to Damascus. You will follow this route through one of Jordan’s big nature-spectacles, Wadi Mujib, Jordan’s own “Grand Canyon” and if you will be traveling to Jordan between April and October, you will have the chance to enjoy doing the Siq trail, this trail starts at the Visitor Center near the Mujib Bridge, where you will take the cantilevered walkway over the dam and follow the course of the river between towering sandstone cliffs to the base of a large waterfall. Depending on seasonal rainfall levels, the gorge may contain pools deep enough for swimming. This is an ideal walk to take slowly and enjoy the cool water and shade, especially in the heat of the summer. Through this beautiful and impressive Wadi, we will take you to visit the immense Crusader Castle of Karak. Finally, arrive to Dhana Biosphere Reserve for overnight.

Overnight: Dhana | Meals: Breakfast & Dinner.

Day 6

Overnight: Feynan | Meals: Breakfast, Box Lunch & Dinner.

Day 7

Feynan, Shobak Castle & Little Petra

After breakfast, you will have the chance to explore the extensive ruins of the busy mining site, which flourished here from Biblical times through the days of the Byzantine Empire. En route to Petra, tour Shobak Castle once called “Krak De Montreal “dates from the same turbulent period as Karak. It is perched on the side of a rocky conical mountain, overlooking fruit trees below. Shobak built in 1115 AD; it was the first of many fortifications built beyond the Jordan by King Baldwin I of Jerusalem to guard the road from Egypt to Damascus. It successfully resisted a number of sieges until it fell to Saladin's troops in 1189 AD.

Take a short drive to visit Siq Al Barid “Little Petra” the Nabatean customs point outside the bounds city of Petra. You reach the ancient settlement of Siq al Barid, where the remains of water pipes, cisterns and frescoes have been preserved, only a few kilometers further to the Neolithic site of Baidha. We continue onward to our hotel in Petra for overnight Petra.

Overnight: Petra | Meals: Breakfast.

Day 8

The Rose City of Petra

After breakfast, spend the day with your private guide exploring the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Rose City of Petra. The ancient site rediscovered in 1812, and it was first settled around the 6th century BC by the Nabataean tribe from Arabian Peninsula.

Start your magnificent archaeological treasure visit of the Rose City on foot through a narrow Siq, where the gorge leads you to reveal the famous facade of Al-Khazneh (the Treasury). Continuing your walk inside the ancient site and explore tombs, temples, an extraordinary Amphitheatre and a Roman colonnaded street.

If you still didn’t run out of energy, why not try to ascend the hundreds of rock-cut steps to ad-Deir. Better known as the Monastery, ad-Deir has a similar facade to that of the Treasury, but is quite bigger and the view from the top of the façade is breathtaking.

Overnight: Petra | Meals: Breakfast.

Day 9

The Rose City of Petra

Today! It is Time to get off the beaten track for your second day touring in Petra! Al Madras “Secret way” is really off the tourist path, where it gives you the chance to enjoy a scenic view to the Treasury from above.
