This action-packed program gives you the very best of Jordan, including it’s three UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Packed with special treats including the RACE show in Jerash, “Petra by Night,” a cuisine lesson at the Petra Kitchen and other goodies, our “basic” touring program is far from basic.
Welcome to Jordan and start your amazing Holiday! Upon arrival at Queen Alia Airport, you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel in Amman.
Drive to
Umm al-Jimal, which also called “Black Gem of the desert”, it was once an
important caravan way station on the margins of the Decapolis. Rural and well
to do, it was a fitting contrast to the surrounding busy cities. Its mansions
and towers, some still standing to three stories high, are architectural
wonders. The remains of some 14 Byzantine churches have been discovered here.
Drive to Shaumari
Reserve, created as a breeding center for endangered or locally extinct
wildlife, the Shaumari Reserve is home to some of the rarest species of animals
in the Middle East. In this small 22 Km square reserve, you can enjoy a jeep
safari to see the Arabian Oryx roaming freely in the desert grassland.
Ostriches and Gazelles can also be observed in their enclosures. Shaumari’s
breeding enclosures provide a small “zoo” for visitors, making the reserve a
popular spot for children and school outings. These animals are rebuilding
their populations in this safe haven, protected from the hunting and habitat
destruction that nearly wiped them out.
Take a short drive onward to Azraq to tour its Roman Castle, which is solidly constructed out of black basalt. As result of its strategic location close to the borders of several countries and near to water supply, the site has been occupied by many different civilizations including the Umayyad, Ayyubids and Ottomans. T.E. Lawrence, better known as Lawrence of Arabia used the Castle as his military base in the winter during the Arab Revolt of the early 20th Century against the Turks.
Enjoy a
city tour Amman which was known as Rabbath Ammon (the Great City of the
Ammonites) and was later renamed Philadelphia circa 250 BC. Amman is really two
different cities – Western Amman boasts modernism with large shopping malls,
chic restaurants and wide streets, whereas the bustling markets, Smokey cafés
and crowded streets are more characteristic of East Amman. The visit to the
historic sites today includes the Roman Theatre, Folklore Museum and Modern
City.
This
evening join the crowd for a cuisine course at the local Petra Kitchen, where
you help prepare a memorable Jordanian feast:
Petra
Kitchen is a delightful way to round out your Jordan travel experiences. Like
any home kitchen, The Petra Kitchen is a relaxed, informal atmosphere where
you'll gather to prepare an evening meal, working alongside local women under
the supervisions of their chef. Each evening meal includes soup, cold and hot
mezza and salads, and a main course- all typical Jordanian dishes.

TOUR REVIEWS
This trip was an absolute blast, way beyond what I had in mind! Our tour guide was awesome—super knowledgeable and totally cool with all our last-minute changes, questions, and moments of indecision. They really went the extra mile, encouraging us more than needed. I've already told my friends about this amazing experience and highly recommended it.
I cannot describe how wonderful this trip was. Jordan and Petra in particular has been on my bucket list to visit for a long time and I have finally made to this heaven in October this year. Highlights of the trip were trekking through the gorges of Petra, first vision of the Treasury , 4WD through the desert outback of Wadi Rum and the sunset in Wadi Rum desert was fascinating. The tour group was well organized and managed by Ghaidan. His knowledge and leadership skills are outstanding and Plato Tours is lucky to have such a dedicated and passionate guide. He is funny and handled our group of different ages and needs with such ease.
